At Barfreystone, Kent.

'Edward Thomas Austen, a nephew of Jane Austen, was Rector here from 1854–1908 and is buried in the Churchyard with his wife, also a Jane Austen. Over the Altar there are three memorial windows to the latter Jane Austen, placed here by the Rev. Edward just subsequent to his wife's death in 1867. There are also two memorial windows to the Rev. Edward in the Chancel. There is nothing significant about the wording of these windows. Fanny Sophia Austen is buried beside her brother and sister-in-law. Over each grave there is a stone cross.
