Henry Austen [2] continued.
Served as a Volunteer on board the 'Bellerophon' (commanded by his father) at the siege and capture of St. Jean d'Acre in November 1840. he received the Naval General Service medal with bar 'Syria' – though his name does not appear on the Naval General Service Medal Roll.
Ensign, 81st Regiment of Foot, April 7th 1843.
Lieutenant (by purchase) January 22nd 1848.
Transferred to the 73rd Regiment of Foot, March 22nd 1850.
He died from a fall, near Grahams Town, on October 21st 1851, at the age of 25.
