'He had 10 years' service in the Royal Air Force – finishing with the rank of Flight-Sergeant.
When war broke out in 1939 he had just arrived at Singapore. He was later transferred to Kedah and was taken prisoner by the Japs in Sumatra. He was in captivity for 3½ years and had a very bad time, working on a new railway from Sumatra to Java. However, one release he was taken to Ceylon, and was in hospital in Colombo for three months, where he made a good recovery – but was still subject to bad attacks of malaria after he got home.
He is at present (1952) with Messrs. Wilson Sons and Co. Shipping Agents, in Rosario, Argentina.'
