Ordained Deacon 1874.
Ordained Priest 1875, by the Bishop of Lichfield.
Curate of Yoxall, Staffordshire 1874–1876.
Rector of Chawton Hants. July 24th 1876 until his death.
Married February 8th 1872, Emma Grace, second daughter of Major John Patrickson of the Madras Horse Artillery. She died in 1924.
Charles Edward Knight died April 27th 1912 and was buried at Chawton – having had issue:

Educated at Haileybury and the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst.
2nd Lieutenant, Royal East Kent Regiment (the Buffs) March 7th 1895.
Lieutenant, April 7th 1897.
Captain, March 11th 1900.
Retired, February 26th 1913.
Served in the South African war 1899–1902. Special Service Officer for Mounted Infantry.
Queen's medal with three bars, King's medal with two bars.
Served at Aden, during operations in the interior, 1903–1904.
On the outbreak of war in 1914 he was attached to the 5th Battalion the Buffs, with the rank of Major, dated March 8th 1913.
Deputy Assistant Adjutant-General on the Headquarters Staff.
Embarkation: August 5th 1914.
Brevet Lieut-Colonel, June 3rd 1918.
