Lionel Charles Edward Knight [4] continued.
Retired, 1919.
Succeeded at Chawton on the death of his uncle, Montagu George Knight, in 1914.
County Magistrate 1916, sat on the Alton Petty Sessional Bench – of which he was later appointed Chairman.
President and Chairman of the Alton Constitutional and Conservative Club. Was later presented with the Association of Service Clubs' distinguished Service Medal.
President of Chawton Football Club.
President of Chawton Cricket Club.
President of the North East Hants Agricultural Association in 1919, 1920 and 1926.
Chairman of the Commissioners for Taxes for the North division of Alton.
Member of the Committee of the Inwood Cottage Hospital.
Governor of Eggar's Grammar School Alton and Chairman of the School Managers.
Chairman of the Alton and District Boy Scouts Association.
A great sportsman, his favourite sport being shooting. Did not ride to hounds, but was a member of the Hampshire Hunt, frequent meets taking place at Chawton House.
Treasure of the Parochial Church Council.
Trustee of the Village Hall.
