Francis Reginald Purvis [3] continued.

Went on retired pay, October 1st 1873.
Rear-Admiral, February 17th 1883.
He served in the operations on the River Parana in 1846, the Burmese War of 1852, the Russian War of 1854-1855 (in the Black Sea) and was lieutenant in the 'Highflyer' at the attack on the Peiho Forts on June 25th 1859 (when he was wounded.) He received the China medal.
His obituary notice in the Naval and Military Gazette, January 16th 1895, reads:
'The death is announced, at the age of 61, of Rear-Admiral F.R. Purvis, of Melrose, Highweek, Newton Abbot. He was the third son of the late Capt. G.T.M. Purvis R.N. Of Blackbrook Cottage, Hants.'
